Agnes Tirop a kenya long-distance runner was being buried at her parents’ home in Nandi County, Kenya, on what would have been her 26th birthday, with More than 1,000 mourners in attendance.
The 25-year-old athlete, who broke the women-only 10,000m road record last month and also won bronze medals at the 2017 and 2019 world championships, was found stabbed to death in her home in the Great Rift Valley town of Iten on 13 October by police after being reported missing by her father.
Her husband, Ibrahim Rotich, was arrested and have been arranged in court this week as a suspect in her killing.

One of the athletes Hellen Obiri said:
“I told her that in 2022, she was to go and defend my titles and represent our country,”
“For us Kenyans, we have lost a hero”
