A 35-year-old landlord, Oyeinmiebi Selekowei have been arrested by The Bayelsa State Police Command for the alleged murder of his tenant, Oscar Pere’s 3 months old baby during a brawl.
according to report, the incident which happened sometimes last month, September at Amassoma community in Southern Ijaw LGA of bayelsa state.
Report state that the landlord (Oyeinmiebi Selekowei) was angry with the intervention of his tenant Pere, in stoping him from assaulting a woman believed to be his (the suspect) mum. He allegedly threatened to deal with pere and k*ll his child.
Pere, in a complaint lodged with the Government through its Gender Response Initiative Team (GRIT), stated that the suspect transferred aggression on him by holding his child upside down and hitting the back of the child’s head against the door until the baby died.
Pere, a youth pastor was quoted not want to be involved in any case against the man who killed his child.
Pere reportedly told officials of GRIT.
“I told you to let God fight because vengeance belongs to God. I will not want to offend my God by doing things outside his will,’
How ever, Spokesman of the State Police Command, Asinim Butswat, confirmed that the accused landlord is still in the custody of the SCID and the legal department is preparing to charge him to court.
