UNILORIN: A female lecturer of the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Ilorin, identified as Mrs Zakariyyah, was reportedly beaten to pulp on Thursday by her student named Waliyullah Salaudeen.
Waliyullah popularly known as Captain Walz is a 400-level student of the Department of Microbiology, Faculty Of Life Sciences, University of Ilorin, UNILORIN, Kwara State.
Report have it that the suspect, Waliyullah Salaudeen, didn’t observe the compulsory Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) and sought the lecturer’s help, the lecturer Mrs. Zakaria is said to be his SIWES supervisor.

According to an eyewitness, “He went to the her office to seek her help over his issue because he didn’t do the SIWES. He entered her office and started banging the table, the woman absed him and he moved closer to the woman and started slpping her.
She tried to escape and kept calling for help but people didn’t hear her. He drgged her outside and started punching her in-front of the department’s building. Passers by saw what was happening and he ran but was caught by the school’s security personnel. He has been handed over to the police while the lecturer became unconscious for a moment until she was revived.”

The VC of the institution described the incident as sad and unfortunate, assuring that justice will be done on the matter.

The Director of Corporate Affairs of the institution, Kunle Akogun, confirmed the development to DAILY POST in a text message to our correspondent on Saturday.
He said “a visit by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sulyman Age Abdulkareem, in company of the Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, Professor Oladiji, the Director, University Health Services, Dr Odunola and a few other staff to the victim and her family, this morning, Saturday, confirmed that.”
