Travel at British railway stations came to a complete stop on Tuesday as commuters were forced to deal with pandemonium and many choose to stay at home during the largest UK Rail strike in more than three decades.
The RMT train union claims that the strikes are essential because salaries have lagged behind UK inflation, which has risen to a 40-year high and is expected to continue doing so.

Over 50,000 RMT members left their jobs on Monday after last-ditch negotiations to avoid the work stoppage failed.
However, the RMT stated that talks will go back up on Wednesday. Network Train, which manages for the country’s rail tracks, said AFP negotiations will begin at 10:00 am (0900 GMT) (0900 GMT).
With just a skeleton service operating on several networks throughout the nation, railway and London Underground stations, which are typically a sea of people during the morning and evening rush hours, were abandoned or even shut.
Passengers were advised not to travel for the whole week since the two more strike days on Thursday and Saturday would seriously disrupt plans.

The demand for taxis increased, and the main roads were congested with buses, vehicles, and bikers weaving in and out of them.
Soon after 6:00 am (0500 GMT), long lines started to develop at bus stops outside of London, but many gave up when the buses continued with no stops since they were already full.
Similar difficulties beset commuters attempting to get home.
